St. Patrick's Day Espresso Drinks
Posted on: September 14, 2011
St. Patrick's Day espresso drinks are made with concentrated coffee brewed with very hot water under high pressure and pressed through coffee that has been ground to a fine powder then mixed with seasonal choices such as mint, Baily's Irish Cream or Irish Whiskey. Espresso drinks can remain alcohol-free or server chilled and garnished with a sprig of mint or a dash of green food coloring for a festive appearance. The addition of the food coloring does not change the taste of the final product.
Other "green" drinks for the holiday season include green beer, green tea latte's, and more.
What is Espresso?
Espresso is a concentrated coffee beverage, with the finished product being normally one to two ounces in size. The coffee is ground much finer than typical store-bought coffee. In some countries, the espresso is meant to be consumed straight, with no additives. In other countries, like in Italy, sugar may be added.http://www.1stincoffee.com/what-is-espresso.htm In the United States, it is often used as a base for other accompaniments, including milk, cream, sugar, flavored syrups and other additions. Different drinks that contain espresso include cappuccinos, cafe lattes and cafe mochas. The first espresso machine, the Tipo Gigante, was patented in 1901 by Luigi Bezzera. It was then sold in 1905 to Desidero Pavoni, who first sold the machine to consumers.http://www.1stincoffee.com/what-is-espresso.htm
